EDUCATION & TRAINING
Supporting Learning, Scholarships, and School Growth
Formal Education came to Bamunkumbit with the arrival of the Roman Catholic Missionaries and the Basel missionaries in the 1920s. Before 1950, most Bamunkumbit children schooled in other areas. The first formal school was established in Bamunkumbit in 1951 by the Catholic Mission. The first government school was created in 1976. Today, Bamunkumbit boasts many nursery and primary schools, thanks to the collective efforts of Mankong Elites, MACUDA, and HRH Fon of Bamunkumbit. Secondary education began in the 1990s with private institutions, followed by the Bamunkumbit Community Secondary School (BCSS) in 2006, which later transformed into Government Secondary School (GSS) and Government High School (GHS) Bamunkumbit. Government Technical College (GTC) Bamunkumbit was created in 2014. Mankong education priorities include school support, student mentorship, scholarship mobilization, and stronger links between community branches and local institutions.
