Leadership Profile

Fong Mankong was the first chief of the Mankong people. From his time, chieftaincy became hereditary. He was the neutral person under whose leadership the nine clans or villages (Mua/Atamua/Bumua) agreed to form one United Kingdom in the late 15th century for defense and security reasons.
